Diddy Talks to MTV News about Biggie Tribute - No Comments
|
Diddy is going to the hometown of his friend and greatest artist Notorious B.I.G. next week to celebrate Big’s life and legacy at Brooklyn club the Lab. “We’re trying to make March 9th a national hip-hop holiday,” Diddy told MTV News. “It already is, on the low. MTV is going to have a big special. We’re doing a party. I’m going to Brooklyn. It’s gonna be the first time I’m throwing a party in Brooklyn. I’m from Harlem. Everybody in Harlem knows you don’t usually go over the bridge to Brooklyn. It’s a big, big deal. Me being such a Harlemite, I’m going over there to pay respect to my man. It’s gonna be a big party in Brooklyn with Mister Cee. It’s a big day. It’s a day to celebrate his life. It’s a day to celebrate the life of the man. We done did the movie, the records. It’s something that, I guess, as a label we’re obsessed with: making sure people don’t forget about this man in a positive way. March 9 is Biggie Day. … Bump Biggie all day, feel good and positive.”

Fans Interview Dawn Richard - No Comments

Kyle and Mela had a chance to interview Dawn check out the exclusive interview below: Mela: When you go home to New Orleans, what are your favorite places to visit? I love the restaurant Mothers, its one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. So if you ever go (to New Orleans) that place has the best food. The place on the lake, its the spot everyone goes to on Sunday. We go to the lake, eat crawfish and chill (Its a must). My favorite place of all is my home church, it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and they rebuilt it. I always go back there because that’s where I had my first communion and its where I got baptized. Its the place where I made a home for myself. So when I go (to New Orleans) I always go revisit the church, there’s a place in my heart that makes me want to go back there all the time. I have to say I’m not going to pick one because I don’t want to do that to myself. I’m a fan of hers period. She’s got plenty of songs, but I don’t know if she wants her songs or business out there, but I do know that people are going to love the songs when they hear them. So I’ll say I’m a fan of hers. The reason why everyone is asking for it is because it was suppose to come out in February. The reason it was not released was not because I didn’t have it, its that I had signed a deal with EigoManga (a distribution company). I was in the works of switching over my comic book and it finally came through. I didn’t want to release the soundtrack with out a comic, so I had to put the soundtrack on hold, so I can release the comic book and soundtrack together. So I’m proud to say that my new comic book is coming out in Spring 2010. First of all, trust god that’s number 1. Second one is you can never please everyone, so learn to please yourself and God and everything will fall into place.

On Monday, Lil Wayne sent an exclusive pre-jail clip to MTV News in which he’s seen before and after filming scenes for Diddy-Dirty Money’s upcoming “Strobe Lights” video at Miami’s Fountainebleu hotel. We caught up with Puff to get some more details on the track. “On Last Train to Paris, Wayne is on the album, Drake is on the album, we’re trying to get Hov on the album, trying to get Janelle Monáe on the album,” Diddy told MTV News. “Everybody that’s on the album, it’s not done in a regular appearance way. It’s done in a unique way that’s authentic. It’s not about a single or [album sales]. It doesn’t have that behind it. Wayne is on a record that’s called ‘Strobe Lights.’ It’s one of the first records where I hear him talking about love and how love has affected him. That’s the type of things I wanted to get out of people if they were on the album. I wanted people to get out of their comfort zone and do something that was special. He did the video for me over the weekend. ‘Strobe Lights,’ it’s gonna be tough.”
